Bilingual Adapted Materials and Videos for Special Education, Speech Therapy, ESOL, and Dual Language Programs
Children who are learning two languages or have language delays benefit greatly when activities are presented in both of their languages. Additionally, when young students are learning a new concept or theme, it is important to use as many of the five senses as possible to improve memory skills.
There are numerous themes targeted monthly at the young elementary level, starting in preschool. The challenge arises when there are students who require extra support to acquire new concepts and vocabulary. Start scrolling though BilingualResources.org. The following are examples of topics available in English and Spanish.
The Earth and space science theme, maps and landforms unit, and the economy and community helpers unit are easier for language learners to grasp when the curriculum is adapted to their level. Adapted activities, such as these, can be downloaded from Teachers Pay Teachers at Bilingual Resources for Therapists and Teachers. Parents and teachers can open a free account.
